A total of 93% accessed their first or second choice destinations with 26% securing places at prestigious Russell Group universities. Five students achieved all A*s and As.

Others landed places at a host of higher education establishments while a number achieved the results needed to gain highly competitive apprenticeships in the local area and beyond.

Waltham Toll Bar Academy Principal Nigel Whittle congratulated the successful students.

“We’ve had some fantastic individual performances that retain our reputation for academic excellence in our Sixth Form,” Mr Whittle said.

“Our students deserve their successes and it is a terrific set of results.

“They’ve worked incredibly hard and I’m delighted for them and their families. We wish them all the best, whether they are continuing in education or going into the world of work.

“Our Sixth Form Team will be here today to offer students and their families support and guidance where appropriate.

“While some students will go to Russell Group universities, I’m also delighted for those who have succeeded in securing top apprenticeships in the face of stiff competition.”

Head of Sixth Form Christina Hook was full of praise for this year’s cohort.

“They did not take GCSEs two years ago because of the pandemic so these were their first public examinations,” she said.

“They have proven themselves to be exceptionally resilient in the face of this challenge, and I’m really proud of how well they have performed.”

Toll Bar Sixth Form is part of Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust and its Chief Executive Officer Martin Brown passed on his congratulations.

“This year group has faced some challenging times because of COVID and deserve their successes,” he said.

“I’m delighted that our A-level results have maintained our pre-pandemic exam standards.”

“I’d like to congratulate our students and also the staff who have put in an enormous amount of work to ensure the year group achieved their best possible outcomes.”

There were some outstanding individual results.
