Elephant is in the room!

Students at Toll Bar Sixth Form are to be given additional support and guidance as they aspire to attain places at the most prestigious and sought-after university destinations.

Toll Bar Sixth Form has announced a collaboration with The Elephant Group, a headteacher-led charity committed to improving fair access to top universities through its Year 12-13 Elephant Access programme.

Details of the new partnership - starting in September - will be given at the Sixth Form’s Spring Open Evening, taking place on Thursday, 2nd March, between 5.30pm and 8pm.

Waltham Toll Bar Academy Principal, Nigel Whittle, said: “We’re delighted that a representative from The Elephant Group will be present at our latest open evening to help explain about this new partnership.

We are unapologetically ambitious on behalf of all of our students and are committed to ensuring that they have the same opportunities to access top institutions as students living elsewhere in the country.”

This partnership, a first for North East Lincolnshire, will enable us to build upon our existing track record for supporting students to access the very best destinations, by providing students with bespoke support with university applications and unique opportunities throughout their time with us.”

The Sixth Form open event also offers a further opportunity for Year 11 students from all schools in the area to discuss options with A-Level experts, speak with current students and receive additional support and guidance from the Sixth Form team.

Head of Sixth Form, Christina Hook said: “Whilst many Year 11s have already applied to post-16 courses, it is important for them to understand that keeping all options open and seeking best possible advice will help them make a decision that is right for them.

We continue to receive applications from young people throughout the local area and beyond, and are committed to supporting them to as they make these important decisions regarding their next steps.”

The Sixth Form also warmly invites Year 10 students to take up the opportunity to begin their exploration of post-16 options by visiting the site, meeting current students and having early conversations about subject options.

Of interest to both year groups will be the additional guidance provided by representatives from a range of local universities, apprenticeship providers and local employers who will be present to discuss options beyond further education.

Toll Bar Sixth Form continues to provide outstanding learning opportunities across a wide portfolio of academic qualifications.

Students who share its aspiration are welcome to the 2nd March event, and apply to study with the sixth form from September, 2023, and beyond.
